Split Frame Clamshell Pipe Cutter Demo
See the Split Frame Clamshell cutter in action for on-site pipe cutting and beveling. Pipeline clamshell cold cutter for 89-1830mm OD pipes.
This demonstration shows the Split Frame Series external clamp clamshell machine performing in-line cold cutting and beveling on pipe that stays in position — no end access, no torch, and no hot-work permit required.
What the Video Shows
The split-frame design is what makes on-site work possible: the machine separates into two halves that bolt together around a pipe already welded into a line. Once clamped, the ring rotates tool bits around the pipe circumference, parting the pipe and machining the weld bevel in the same setup. Because this is cold machining rather than flame or plasma cutting, there is no heat-affected zone and the finished bevel is ready for welding without grinding.
Series Capabilities
- Pipe OD range: 89-1830mm across 23 models
- Wall thickness: up to 110mm
- Drive options: electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, or CNC
- Operations: simultaneous cutting and beveling with V, compound, or J profiles
Typical Applications
Split frame clamshells are the standard tool for pipeline maintenance and tie-ins, offshore platform and subsea spool work, power plant retrofits, and any job where a section must be cut out of an existing line and re-welded in place. Pneumatic and hydraulic drive options allow operation in explosion-risk environments where electric tools are prohibited.
