HDL Handheld Series Selection Guide: Reading This Datasheet

Two models make up the HDL line: the HDL-10A (bevel width to 10mm, 2.0kW) and HDL-15A (to 15mm, 2.4kW). Both are one-hand milling bevelers that follow straight edges, curves and circular openings from 200mm diameter upward — the geometries that fixed machines cannot reach. Interchangeable heads set the bevel angle at 30°, 45° or 60°.

  • Bevel width is the deciding spec: a 45° bevel on 10mm plate needs about 14mm of width, which already calls for the HDL-15A — the 10A is right for chamfers and small weld preps up to roughly 7mm plate.
  • Both models need 200mm minimum workpiece diameter for curved and hole work; tighter radii are grinder territory.
  • Angle changes are head swaps — order the angle heads your WPS actually calls for.
  • For long straight plate runs beyond occasional work, a self-guided machine like the SKF-15 gives straighter results with less operator fatigue.
