All eleven SOC models share the same 4-jaw synchronous chuck concept; they differ only in the pipe OD window they clamp, stepping from the SOC-168 (50-168mm) to the SOC-610 (508-610mm). Because the jaws center the machine automatically, changeover time between pipe sizes within one model's window is measured in seconds, which is why most spool shops buy the fewest models whose windows tile across their pipe program.
- List the pipe sizes you actually run, then choose the fewest models whose ranges tile across that list — e.g. SOC-230 plus SOC-426 covers 89-426mm with one overlap.
- Adjacent models overlap deliberately (SOC-275 runs 108-275mm, SOC-305 runs 133-305mm); when a size falls in an overlap, take the larger model for wall-thickness headroom.
- Four drive options exist across the series — electric (SOCE) as default, pneumatic (SOCP) for hazardous areas, hydraulic (SOCH) for maximum torque, Metabo motor (SOCM) where premium motor service networks matter.
- Maximum wall thickness is 30mm across the series; beyond that, look at the Split Frame Series instead.
